In organizing the works that I have completed I find that there are 3 major themes into which the majority of them fall. Those 3 themes are Curriculum Design and Development, Instructional Design and Development, and Media Design and Development. Below are brief descriptions of how these themes apply to my work.

Curriculum design and development-
If there were no curriculum to be taught, there would be no need for instruction and no need for instructional technology. In my position at the Technology Training Center, I have had the opportunity to be a part of designing new curriculum and revising and further developing existing curriculum for the state's training repertoire.

In this section I have included examples of projects on which I have worked to develop curriculum. For examples of my curriculum design work, go to the Curriculum section of the Gallery.

Instructional design and development -
When people ask me what instructional technology is, instructional design is a large part of the definition. Instructional design is the process by which instruction, computer-based or not, is created.

Instructional design provides a framework for the creative process of design, and ensures the learners' needs are met.

The program at UGA has provided me with many opportunities to explore instructional design. The projects I included here demonstrate my understading of and abilities related to instructional design. For examples of my work as an instructional designer, go to the Instructional Design section of the Gallery.

Media design and development -
Multimedia design in Instructional Technology involves creating media that communicates meaning as part of the design. Designing media creates a unique set of challenges. The content of the given project is of foremost importance, but design can either add to or detract from the message.

The balance between style and usability is where the art of designing media lies. The project that I've included in this section demonstrates how design can enhance and extend information. For examples of my work as a media designer, go to the Media section of the Gallery.
